    Expression of Thanking (thank berarti berterima kasih) merupakan ungkapan yang digunakan untuk menyatakan terima kasih kita terhadap seseorang karena kita telah mendapatakan bantuan, pelayanan ataupun respon yang baik dari seseorang tersebut. 
    Selain itu, expression of thanking disebut juga expression of gratitute. Kata gratitude berarti berterima kasih. Expression of gratitude ini layak diberikan kepada seseorang yang telah berjasa atau tidakannya memberikan dampak positif terhadap kita. Oleh karena itu, expression of gratitude menjadi wujud rasa syukur atau berterima kasih kita terhadap tindakan yang telah orang lain lakukan kepada kita.

    Fungsi Expression of Thanking pada hakikatnya antara lain:
    • To gratitude or thank to someone for his/her kindness (untuk berterima kasih kepada seseorang atas kebaikannya)
    • To show respect to someone for his/her service or help (menunjukkan rasa hormat kepada seseorang atas pelayanan atau bantuan yang telah diberikan)
    • To express sympathy to someone for his/her action (mengungkapkan rasa simpati pada seseorang atas tindakan yang telah ia lakukan)
