kamu apa itu modifier? Ya, modifier merupakan sebuah kata atau sekumpulan kata
yang memodifikasi kata lainnya dalam sebuah kalimat. Modifiers dalam bahasa
Inggris dapat berupa adverb (kata keterangan), adjective (kata sifat),
conjunction (kata hubung), article (kata sandang), dan sebagainya.
Apa itu Sameness & Similarity?
Sameness
atau Similarity, disebut juga persamaan, merupakan ungkapan atau kalimat yang
menyatakan dua hal yang sama, baik benda, seseorang, dan sebagainya. Persamaan
tersebut berkaitan dengan kualitas, kuantitas, karakter, ataupun ciri fisik
yang mereka miliki. Sementara itu, karena membandingkan karakter atau sifat
yang sama (dari benda (noun), tindakan (verb), sifat (adjective), keterangan
(adverb), dan lain-lain), maka kalimat sameness atau similarity menggunakan adjective
(kata sifat); serta, menggunakan adverb (kata keterangan), seperti adverb of
manner (cara), adverb of time (waktu), dan sebagainya.
Selain itu, sameness atau similarity dalam degree of comparison disebut juga dengan positive degree, yaitu membandingkan dua atau lebih sesuatu yang sama. Kata-kata yang biasanya digunakan dalam kalimat sameness atau similarity yaitu 1) as … as, 2) like, 3) the same … as, dan 4) similar to. Kata-kata yang disebutkan di atas bermakna “sama dengan” atau “se-“.

Sameness & Similarity
Dalam
pembentukan kalimat sameness atau similarity, pola dan penggunaan kata-kata,
seperti 1) as … as, 2) like, 3) the same … as, dan 4) similar to, harus
diperhatikan dalam kalimat perbandingan. Berikut ini beberapa hal yang perlu
diperhatikan terkait pola ungkapan atau kalimat sameness and similarity antara
lain:
1. like atau the same as.
Your car is like mine. (similarity)
Your car is the same as mine.
(sameness)
2. the same + noun + as
John is the same
height as Bill.
Mary is the same
age as Valerie.
3. as + adjective + as
John is as tall as Bill.
Mary is as old as Valerie.
