Relative Pronoun

Who dan whom digunakan
untuk kata ganti orang.
Contoh:
I saw the man who is famous
for inventing plastic.
Give it to the man whom you
already know.

Which digunakan
untuk nonrestrictive, atau
nonessential clauses; yaitu
kalusa yang tidak berpengaruh terhadap makna kalimat sebenarnya. Nonessential clauses
selalu didahului dan diikuti dengan tanda koma (,). “Which” umumnya digunakan untuk kata ganti
benda.
Contoh:
The 104 bus, which
is always late, should arrive at 4 p.m. at the shopping center.

That digunakan
untuk restrictive, atau essential clauses. “That” dapat digunakan baik untuk
kata ganti orang maupun kata ganti benda. Kamu tidak perlu menggunakan tanda
koma (,) pada essential clauses.
Contoh:
Here is the man that can
answer your questions.
Did you find the book that
you wanted to buy?

Whose digunakan
untuk menunjukkan possession (kepemilikan). kata ini juga diikuti dengan persons
(orang) atau things (bendanya).
Contoh:
This is the man whose car was
towed away.
