1. By 5 PM yesterday, he would have been studying for six hours.

Dalam kalimat ini, "would have been studying" menunjukkan bahwa pada waktu tertentu di masa depan (pukul 5 sore kemarin), kegiatan belajar sedang berlangsung dalam periode waktu tertentu (enam jam), yang merupakan masa lampau dari sudut pandang waktu yang diperkirakan di masa depan.

Past Future Continuous Tense sering digunakan untuk menyatakan:

1. Durasi atau lamanya tindakan yang sedang berlangsung di masa lampau pada titik waktu tertentu di masa depan.
